Why bespoke wood

An off-the-shelf plastic kennel almost fits. Almost isn't good enough at 35,000 feet.

Mass-produced kennels come in a handful of fixed sizes. Your pet doesn't. A crate that is too small is a welfare problem and a reason for an airline to refuse carriage at check-in; a crate that is too big lets your pet get thrown about in transit.

We build each crate to your animal's four IATA measurements, so they can stand at full height, turn around and lie down naturally, with nothing wasted and nothing tight. Rigid treated timber doesn't flex or rattle the way plastic does, and we insulate every crate against sound, because engine noise is the thing most pets find hardest about flying.

It is the difference between a container and a place your pet can settle.

In every crate

Built to be accepted by the airline. Finished to be forgotten by your pet.

An exact fit

Sized from your pet's own measurements against the IATA formula, with extra allowance for snub-nosed breeds. If we think a measurement looks off, we will call you before we cut a single board.

Treated timber, metal fixings

Rigid treated wood, leak-proof base, secure metal hardware and ventilation on multiple sides, built to comply with IATA Live Animals Regulations, Container Requirement 1.

Quiet inside

Every wooden crate is naturally insulated against sound. The hold is a loud place; the inside of the crate doesn't have to be.

Dry, comfortable bedding

Lined with incontinence pads and bedded with vetbed, so your pet stays dry and comfortable however long the journey runs.

Sizing made simple

You don't need to know crate sizes. You just need a tape measure and your pet.

Four measurements are all we need: nose to tail, ground to elbow, across the shoulders, and standing height. Our guide shows you exactly where to measure, and we work out the crate from there.

Questions people ask

The things you're probably wondering.

Will the airline accept a wooden crate?

Airlines accept crates that comply with IATA Live Animals Regulations, Container Requirement 1, and ours are built to that standard: rigid construction, correct ventilation, secure door and leak-proof base. Individual airlines add their own rules on top (some ban wheels, some require extra ventilation for snub-nosed breeds), so tell us your airline when you enquire and we will build to their requirements too. Then confirm the crate spec with the airline before you fly; we will give you everything you need to do that.

How long does a crate take to build?

It depends on the size of the build and how busy the workshop is, so we confirm a build time with every quote. If you have a flight booked, tell us the date first and we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it.

How much does a crate cost?

Every crate is priced on its dimensions and spec, which is why we quote rather than list prices. Send your pet's measurements and you will have a firm price within 48hours, with no obligation.

What if I measure my pet wrong?

Our measuring guide shows exactly where each measurement is taken. We sense-check every set of measurements against the breed and weight you give us, and if something looks unusual we will call you before building.

Do you transport pets as well?

No. We build the crates; pet shipping companies and airlines handle the journey. If you need a relocation agent, ask us and we will point you towards reputable ones.
